Be inspired by Aart Strootman during this concert for classical guitar in a ‘new’ context.
It turns out the classical guitar isn’t as classical as it used to be. New techniques for the instrument, amplification and audio tracks provide a contemporary context for the nylon stringed guitar.
In this concert Aart Strootman plays works by Dutch composers who contributed to this development.
Among others you will be treated to ‘Toccata’ and ‘Crystal Vermin’ by Florian Magnus Maier, notes that were until recently considered to be unplayable.
In ‘Auburn’, Michel van der Aa challenges the guitarist to a duel between the guitar and a pre-recorded tape with degenerate guitar sounds.
Additionaly Aart will bring recent works by Paul Frankhuijzen and Christiaan Richter.
