After The Storm

Tuesday 05 December 2017 / 20:30 / Intro (Muziekgieterij), Maastricht

Experimental formation ALIGAGA from Maastricht (NL) based around italian bassist and composer Federico Corsini strikes with detailed yet open compositions.

Spaces and shapes are being filled by seven unique improvisors coming from Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy and South Korea. 2015 was the year of their debut album “YEAH ALIGAGA“ after winning the “Bilzen Young Jazz Award“. After two tours in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands ALIGAGA reunited in Copenhagen to record their second album “After the Storm” – a deeply emotional musical journey through ones struggles of life in anger, fear and depression.

AFTER THE STORM

“is poetry from the under-self
are stories from the black
looking for the key
deep, down,
swimming in a thick and dense sensation
and down, down again,
looking for the symbol of the circle
down, where the layers of color are chasing each other
following the reconciliation of the sun
and above us
the love is dead
and reborn under a new sign
and underneath
the hate is born
and death
again and never in vain.”
