Angela de Weijer is a sound artist; in 2014 she completed the ArtScience master at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Her work is characterised by a multidisciplinary approach which invites the audience to speculate and to open up to stretching the boundaries of perception. 1’26” is a special performance, work in progress and first milestone en route to composing a swan song for the decommissioning of the air raid siren system of the Netherlands in 2020.

Although the sirens still sound for testing every first Monday of the month, innovation is catching up with them. De Weijer will show a siren and various steps in the process towards the composition. The public will have the opportunity to experience the monthly test from up close.

Please note: if you are sensitive to sound pressure it is not advisable to attend this performance.
