The Fluid Orchestra – LIT SCENES
Scenes from nature represent emotions and experiences in this Fluid Orchestra project by Jesse Passenier.
With his 1st string quartet and compositions for octet, Passenier tells personal stories. By collaborating with VJ Anne Gentenaar, his musical ideas are made visual: an abstract wild life film focussing on music is the result, all created live on stage. The Suite LIT SCENES consists of two parts. The first is String Quartet No.1. which will be performed by the renowned Dudok Quartet (NL), which won 1st prizes in several international Contests. String Quartet No.1 shows a musical idiom related to big band and clear links to Ligeti, Bartók and Ravel. During the second part of the Suite, the string quartet is joined by four more musicians, playing flute, Moog Synth controlled by EWI (electric wind-driven instrument), piano and double bass. Pianist Bart Van Caenegem (BE) and bassist Matthias Akeo Nowak (DE) are featured in the pieces for octet, bringing expertise in both classical and jazz. This part is filled to the brim with lyrical melodies, packed in colourful harmonies and atmospheres, that are alternated with tense moments and vivid rhythms.
