Germaine Sijstermans, 37 Fern
Germaine Sijstermans in duo with Johnny Chang and new music chamber ensemble 37 Fern with: Claron McFadden: voice, Kristina Fuchs: voice, Oğuz Büyükberber: clarinet, bass clarinet, Tobias Klein: Bass and contrabass clarinets.
Germaine Sijstermans is artist in residence at Intro in the season 2018-2019 (with kind support of Via Zuid) and a very familiar face at Intro. In her music the focus lies mainly on the relationship between the musicians: : the experience and realisation of the music through listening and reacting to each other. Of the important two acitivities in making music, producing sound and listening, the audience participates in the music through the latter; anticipating, hearing and reminiscing on sound.
In 37FERN, singers Claron McFadden and Kristina Fuchs and bass clarinetists Oğuz Büyükberber and Tobias Klein join forces with music that goes back to songs from Asia.
Renowned singer Claron McFadden doesn’t really need an introduction, apart from the fact that she is a well respected soprano and an excellent improviser.
Kristina Fuchs is a multifaceted talent who excells at singing jazz, world music and contemporary music. She recently presented her project Linden together with pianist Jeroen van Vliet and saxophonist Mete Erker.
“Büyükberber and Klein are adept at holding the compositions together even as they push the limits beyond formal constructs. The musicianship is first rate …”
