VLEK is a very passionate collective of musicians who’s roots lie in improvised music, jazz and alternative rock music. A musical live experience that has no equal.
The last VLEK concert of the year will be a very special one. Forget all previous concerts, tonight they are confronting city poet of Tilburg Martin Beversluis.
Expect a spectacular Slam Poetry fight between the anarchistic jazzos from VLEK and the always surprising poet Beversluis. City Poet Martin Beversluis is widely recognised for his participations in poetry slams, wrote 8 poetry volumes and celebrated his 20th anniversary as a poet in 2015. He is no stranger to performing, often times as poet in Tilburg based band Listening Principles (LP). With LP Beversluis released two poetry volumes with built in CD: ‘Kijken voorbij hoe de tijd gaat’ (1998) and ‘Week’ (2000).
Going to a VLEK concert is like riding a rollercoaster: from melodic to unruly, exhilarating to hushed, big band to heavy metal. From melancholy to unbridled happiness.
VLEK signifies huge enjoyment in playing, adventure and improvisation on the cutting edge: expect the unexpected!
