Germaine Sijstermans – Première
Cultuurhuis Heerlen
A shared listening, by musicians and visitors, in a space in the space. An acoustic sextet performs the latest composition with installation by Germaine Sijstermans. Music, light, concentration and threads intertwine at Cultuurhuis Heerlen.
Betula is Germaine Sijstermans’s final work in her two year residency at Intro (Supported by ViaZuid). During her residency, she has composed works with installations that focus on the experience of sound, space, silence and light. Her music departs from listening in silence, the sound material is abstract, the outcome organic. The musicians let the music unfold by constantly listening to each other and communicating from multiple worlds of sound materials. The installation creates a transparent, temporary physical form that colours the subjective experience and lets itself be coloured.
