Double Bill

Sunday 18 November 2018 / 16:00 (doors open: 15:30) - 18:00 / Intro, Maastricht

Once a month we present a special double at Intro. These Sunday afternoons revolve around special and surprising combinations. In combination with the exciting and new culinary treats on offer these afternoons are a complete and satisfying experience. This time you can enjoy music by Mudita (Sanne Rambags, Sjoerd van Eijck and Koen Smits) and Rutger Muller Ensemble!

Rutger Muller Ensemble

In Processive (part I, II)Josephine Bode (Recorder, vocals), Wen Chin Fu (cello) and Rutger Muller (electronics) look for fusions and abstractions of a.o. classical music, Japanese music, minimalism, ambient and glitch. Out of this search flows a fragile symbiose of meditative and unheimliche elements. A mystical entity within which the borders between foreground, background, stability, chaos, time and space fade away.

As an electro-acoustic improviser Rutger Muller focusses on the development of spiritual music in a time of digital, cross-border communication. Cultures and subcultures – current and past – can provide eachother with new insights since the same intentions are just uttered in a different way.

Muditameans unselfish joy; it is feeling joy for the happiness and success of others.

In this unconventional trio lineup, three young musicians from different musical backgrounds come together to create a single sound. Singer Sanne Rambags, pianist Sjoerd van Eijck and trumpeter Koen Smits explore the limits of their instrument. Their warm sounds and melancholy improvisations strike a chord with a wide audience and the group is able to create a distinctive atmosphere. A minimalist playing style and free compositions mean that no concert is the same – apart from one thing: every performance has magic in it.

Mudita’s debut album Listen To The Sound Of The Forest has been released in May 2018 on the Dutch label ZenneZ Records.

The compositions found on Mudita’s debut album are translations of the tangible joy you feel when you are in contact with yourself and others around you. Compositions about searching, longing and letting go, with nature as the biggest source of inspiration
