As part of the publication of the biography abouth the life and work of Remco Campert, “Een knipperend ogenblik” by Mirjam van Hengel, a special tribute will be held on the 6th of October. There will be a diverse programme.

Poet, column writer and author Campert has written an extensive body of work since the 1950’s and received several prizes for his works. Recently, aged 88, he decided it was time to quit working..


Lecture by Mirjam van Hengel about “Een knipperend ogenblik”
The biographer talked with Campert extensively on a weekly basis over the course of the past two years and was granted acces to his archives. It led to “a portret of the life and work of a beloved writer who always wrote about those things that crossed his path in life”
Book sale and signing after the lecture.

Improvisations on poems by Campert.

“The poet begins and the musician reacts, the poet waits, listens and continues the poem. The musicians provide a musical anwser as they would when playing together.
Who starts will be decided on the spot, as will the musical musical material and the performance. ”

Literary walk led by. Jet van Aalst en Liesbeth Vonhögen
Walk through the Hoge Fronten and the centre of Maastricht led based on fragments from Campert’s work. Along the way extra attention will be given to the relation between the city and his works.

Documentary ‘Verloop van jaren’: closer to Remco Campert
Film from 2016 by John Albert Jansen in conversation with the author, about melancholy, transience, approaching death and poetry as a life elixer.
