Rutger Muller Ensemble
Muller is an electro-acoustic composer influenced by various forms of ambient, techno and classical music.
Late 2017, he started a close collaboration with Intro In Situ. In de Muziekgieterij, he performed a solo set in surround sound – and during Winternights festival, his live ensemble transformed a factory hall of AINSI into a space of mysticism. This April 2018, Muller will return to Maastricht with another performance and an installation.
For Museumnacht – Friday April 13th – Muller collaborates with Museum Sjoen Limburg. He takes inspiration from this chapel-turned-museum, to compose his new installation/composition ‘Paraskevidekatriaphobia’. Sound will embrace the rich acoustics of the space, and mosaic-based light reflections will glisten through the architecture, offering a new idea for meditation.
At Intro In Situ – in de Muziekgieterij on Tuesday April 24th – Muller will be accompanied by his live ensemble, with Josephine Bode (recorders, vocals) and Wen Chin Fu (cello). On the programme are ‘Processive I & II’, compositions that explore a new spiritual minimalism, in which meditative and uncanny elements engage in a mystic symbiosis.
